Custom Furniture System for Hospitality Rooms
Rather than sourcing furniture piece by piece, Afton approached the project as a complete system—designing every element to work together from the start. By consolidating design, manufacturing, and validation into a single process, the team delivered a cohesive environment that balanced form, function, and efficiency at scale.
Insight
The challenge
The project required a unified furniture solution that could meet the demands of hospitality environments while maintaining a consistent design across all rooms.
Traditional procurement would have involved multiple vendors, increasing coordination complexity and introducing risk around quality, fit, and timelines. At the same time, the furniture needed to maximize space efficiency while maintaining durability and aesthetic alignment with the overall design vision.
FRAGMENTED MULTI-VENDOR PROCUREMENT
BALANCING DESIGN, DURABILITY & SPACE
LACK OF SYSTEM-LEVEL INTEGRATION
strategy
the afton approach
Afton developed a fully integrated furniture package tailored to the room layouts and operational needs of the space.
Each component—from bed systems to wall-mounted elements—was designed as part of a cohesive system rather than as standalone pieces. Detailed 2D and 3D models were created to align with the architect’s intent and ensure precise integration across all elements.
To validate the design before production, Afton built a full-scale mock room at the factory. This allowed stakeholders to review the entire environment, refine details, and confirm performance before moving into manufacturing—significantly reducing downstream risk.

impact
the outcome
Afton’s integrated approach brought all furniture elements into a single, cohesive system tailored to the project. By consolidating sourcing and design, the team reduced coordination complexity and ensured consistent quality across every room.
The full-scale mock room allowed for early validation, minimizing risk before production. Functionality was built directly into each piece, improving usability without adding complexity. Floating and wall-mounted components also simplified installation, resulting in a more efficient and streamlined deployment across all units.
Fully Integrated Furniture Package
All furniture elements were designed and manufactured as a single coordinated system, ensuring consistency across every room.
Mock Room Validation
A full-scale mock room was built at the factory, allowing for early validation and reducing risk before mass production.
Integrated Functionality
Power, storage, and usability features were built directly into the furniture design to enhance overall performance.
Installation-Friendly Design
Floating and wall-mounted components were engineered to simplify installation and improve on-site efficiency.
