Prefabricated Wall Panel System for Hospitality Interiors
What began as a standard interior wall installation quickly revealed inefficiencies that would scale across the entire project. Afton reimagined the system from the ground up—transforming a labor-intensive, inconsistent process into a pre-engineered solution designed for speed, precision, and repeatability. The result was not just a material upgrade, but a fundamental shift in how the space was built.
Insight
The challenge
The original design relied on traditional laminate sheets that required extensive on-site cutting and fitting to accommodate varying room layouts. While common, this approach introduced significant inefficiencies.
Installation was highly labor-dependent, leading to longer timelines and variability in execution. Each room required manual adjustments, which resulted in inconsistent finishes and unnecessary material waste. As the number of room configurations increased, so did the complexity—making it difficult to standardize installation or maintain quality across the project.

strategy
the afton approach
Afton partnered with the project’s architects to rethink the wall system entirely, replacing laminate sheets with a fully pre-engineered bamboo charcoal panel system.
Instead of building walls on-site, each panel was designed, sized, and manufactured in advance. Every component was mapped to its exact location through detailed shop drawings and a defined part numbering system. Panels were segmented by functional zones—such as headboards and TV walls—allowing for a modular yet highly coordinated installation process.
To further reduce on-site work, smaller panels were delivered with factory-applied aluminum edge trims. Components arrived ready for placement, minimizing the need for cutting, finishing, or adjustments in the field.

the outcome
By shifting to a fully pre-engineered panel system, Afton turned a labor-heavy installation into a controlled, repeatable process. Panels arrived ready for placement, reducing the need for on-site cutting and adjustments. Factory-applied edge detailing further streamlined installation while improving finish quality.
The standardized system allowed teams to work consistently across multiple room layouts with greater speed and precision. At the same time, bamboo charcoal panels introduced a more durable and sustainable material solution, delivering long-term performance alongside immediate efficiency gains.
Pre-Engineered System Design
A fully pre-engineered panel system replaced traditional on-site fabrication, enabling a more controlled and repeatable installation process.
Factory-Applied Edge Detailing
Aluminum edge trims were applied at the factory, eliminating additional finishing steps and reducing labor required during installation.
Standardized Installation Process
A consistent panel system allowed for streamlined installation across multiple room layouts, improving efficiency and scalability.
Enhanced Material Performance
Bamboo charcoal panels provided a more durable and sustainable alternative to traditional laminate systems while maintaining a high-end finish.
